Wimbledon Speakers Club

Michael was our Chair of the evening in his relaxed encouraging style.
Deborah was Topics Chair for the first time. Topics were random every day sayings or tasks where the speaker had to reverse their opinion when the bell rang.
Katherine won the Won The Debra for her hilarious Topic on “The Dawn Chorus ..what a racket!!”
George did a great job as topics Evaluator giving useful feedback to all both a plus and a point for improvement.
In the second half we had three speeches…
Shirley gave her Ice breaker Speech on “the Big Event” her experiences of Marathon runners via her husbands 25 years of running it.
Craig gave a very detailed evaluation back to Shirley passing her with flying colours.
Vanessa gave her level 9 speech titled “Japanese Perspectives”
A wonderful speech on the Japanese culture and word meanings completing on a positive note to a horrific natural disaster.
Michael evaluated Vanessa giving her a definite pass.
Alice performed her competition speech in practice for next weeks competition titled “A Rose by any other name” It was fabulous.. best of luck to Alice for next week!!!
Joseph helped jog our memories by performing Big Ears on the evenings topics and speeches.
Debra Owen -Hughes drew the evening to a close with her General evaluation feedback point of note to all parties.
Then we all departed to the pub for celebratory drinks..and to wish Michael and Alice well at the National Conference Competition Saturday 16 and Sunday 17th.

Katherine our Chair of the evening managed to guide us though a wonderful evening packed with exciting topics and speeches.
Ben the Topics Master of the evening choose “sayings” as his subject. A host of interesting stories as people mastered their two minute speech on their assigned topic.
Alice performed the role of Topics Evaluator for the evening giving a positive comment and a point to work on to everyone.
Joseph provided us all with Jamaican Rum cake and a fine cup of tea during the break.
The second part of the evening we had two speeches.
Sam performed his level 1 Speech on “This Thing of Ours” an interesting subject around the love of football over the materialism of large Premier clubs. Philippe evaluated Sam’s speech and passed him with flying colours.
Sally treated us to her F1 Speech on “Family Ties” a heart warming story around the warmth of family over their annoying quirks. Michael evaluated Sally and passed her.
Chrissy performed the General Evaluator role giving helpful feedback and points to note on the evenings proceedings.
Finally , Craig in his role of Big Ears put our memory recall to test.

Chrissy our Chair for the evening, encouraged us, keeping us on track with the busy evening of topics and three speeches.

George performed a great job as Topics Master with a “Water” theme.
He assigned each topic to a suitable speaker using every combination of Water topics available! Deborah won the Debra cup with her Topic of “A bath is better than a shower..”

After the welcomed tea break to wet the whistle of the three speech makers we had ..a level two “Mean what you say” and two level six speeches “Word Pictures”.

Peter gave his level 2 speech on “Who am I?” A heart warming speech using an analogy of himself and the sea..ever changing.

Alice our newest Club Speech Champion, gave her level 6 speech titled “War and Peace” which was her experience of meeting her Guru and being struck by a twitch!

Craig gave his level 6 speech titled “The Vertical Rush” which challenged the Pros and Cons on taking part or donating to Charity trill events.. but concluded that it is always good to give.

Evaluators Ben, Katherine and Michael all gave very encouraging feedback and Passes to all.

Helen challenged us all with her “Big Ears” questions on events of the evening.

Finally Sally was general evaluator who gave us feedback both on what went well and points of improvement going forward…one of which was not to say “Without more Ado”…
