Session Review – Persuasion – Monday 1st December

✨ A Stellar Turnout
We welcomed two brave newcomers, Terry and Claire, who stepped into the unknown and joined their very first meeting. Will, on only his second visit, rose to the occasion by leading the session—a brilliant reminder that anyone can step up and embrace the challenge.

🎁 Icebreaker Fun
The opening question sparked plenty of laughs: “What was the worst Christmas present you ever received—and did it have a positive outcome?”

🗣️ Theme of the Week: Persuasion

Building on recent topics of structure, clarity, and vocal impact, we explored three key principles:
• Audience is King – Always ask: what’s in it for them?
• Framing – The meaning of your message depends on how you present it.
• Tonality – How you say something often matters more than the words themselves.

🎭 Activities in Action
• Debate Practice: Paired “for vs. against” challenges on randomized topics. From the eternal question of pineapple on pizza to whether Friday meetings should be banned, participants sharpened their skills in quick, structured persuasion.
• Sell the Impossible: Members pitched imaginary products—from self‑tying shoelaces to endlessly refilling water bottles. Jan stole the show by convincingly selling a fridge that automatically reorders your food, earning the vote for most persuasive pitch.

👏 Acknowledgments
• Liv delivered superb group feedback.
• James D kept everyone on track with precise timing.
• Special kudos to Will for chairing the meeting with fresh ideas and great energy.
