Session Review – Feedback – Mon 15th December 2025
Monday Night at the Wimbledon Speakers Club: Feedback, Festivity & First-Timers 🎤🎄
Monday’s meeting at the Wimbledon Speakers Club was a lively, hands-on session dedicated to the art of feedback, brilliantly led by Paul. The focus was on delivery rather than content, helping speakers practise giving clear, supportive observations that really land.
As Peter Drucker reminded us:
“The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn’t being said.”
That idea guided an evening full of thoughtful listening, encouragement, and laughter.
We kept things light and interactive with:
- A relaxed icebreaker
- Two energetic rounds of 2-minute speeches
- Peer coaching after every speech
- Group reflections on what worked well
We were also delighted to welcome our first-timer, Richard 👋 — great to have you join us, Richard!
Notable speeches included:
- Liv, who spoke about a challenge she overcame, taking us through the build-up to running the Santa Run 🎅🏃♀️
- Rachel, who shared the change she has noticed over the past few years, describing her journey learning Spanish
The evening produced some wonderfully memorable phrases, including “archetypal capitalist” and “you let the words marinate in my head.”
Festive incentives were in full swing — feedback in the second half was sweetened with members’ choice of chocolates 🍫, and Liv’s excellent feedback earned her cinema tickets 🎬
Huge thanks and congratulations to:
- Paul for chairing a fantastic session
- James for keeping us sharp as Grammarian
- Liv for standout feedback
We rounded off the night with festive drinks at All Bar One opposite — with the first round on the club 🥂🎄
