Wimbledon Speakers Club

Over the last few weeks Wimbledon Speakers has run each of its club contests in order to pick the team that will go on to represent the clulb at London Area Level.
Alice came first in the speech contest before Christmas and she has now been joined by Lissi (Topics) and Michael (Evaluation). The London Area Final will be hosted by Wimbledon in our usual venue on February 22nd (1 – 5 pm). Guests are welcome; supporters most welcome. It is a great opportunity to hear first class communicators from across the London clubs.

It is always a pleasure to see new faces coming to the fore.
In November Rob was voted best topic speaker for the first time.
This was followed up in December with Emily’s first time.
However, in the same December meeting, in the more competitive world of the annual speech contest,
events took on a more familiar pattern with Alice taking the first prize.
Alice will now go on to represent Wimbledon in the London Finals in February.
This is a road she has already travelled, having won all the way through to the National final in 2011,
when she was placed 3rd in the UK Speech Contest.

The Wimbledon Annual Speech Contest takes place on December 11th.
